movement practices for curious humans
Hi I’m Leah
I’m a dancer, choreographer, educator and lifelong movement nerd.
I’ve spent over ten years practicing contemporary dance, improvisation, floorwork, theater, mobility and strength training, parkour, bouldering and flow arts (poi / fire spinning). I’ve worked with national and international choreographers through freelancing, toured with Khambatta Dance Company for 7 years, danced with contemporary floorwork company Dance Undercurrent, produced shows and events, had my choreography featured in Seattle International Dance Festival, Converge Dance Festival, 12 minutes Max, and was a recipient of the 2025 James Ray Residency. I’ve been teaching contemporary dance and improvisation for the last 6 years and have taught workshops in Seattle, Greece, South Korea, Bali and Vietnam.
But the thing I’m most passionate about isn’t based in any technique, skill or particular way of moving.
It’s expanding our capacity to feel free in our bodies.
What if instead of measuring your body in terms of what it looked like or what it could do, you measured it by what it has the capacity to express? How much can I feel through my body? How much joy, pleasure, connection, power, authenticity? The real flex is not how much can you bench press, but how at home do you feel in your own skin? Can you allow yourself to move and dance in public without feeling shame or embarrassment? Can you allow yourself to exist, much less express in your body without judgement or fear?
Being able to exist in and move your body without shame or judgement, that is true freedom.
This is what I’m most interested in helping others cultivate within themselves. Being able to access and channel the full range of your expressive power allows you to foster a stronger connection to your most authentic self. When we’re no longer spending so much energy judging or hiding, we become more available for genuine connection with ourselves, other people, our environment and with the present moment.
Being strong, flexible and having a body that is highly adaptive and athletic is wonderful and that can certainly be a beautiful component of feeling free in your body. Strength and skill are worthwhile things to pursue and are imperative in a well-rounded physical practice. But these pursuits become richer when they grow from a practice that is rooted in expression, curiosity (AKA PLAY) and self-acceptance rather than self-criticism.
This is the heart of what I want to explore here with all of you.
Through movement, improvisation, strength, creativity, and play, I want to help people build a relationship with their bodies that isn’t rooted in shame or endless self-improvement but in curiosity, expression, and freedom.
Curious to start your journey to feeling true freedom in your body?
